Singer/songwriter Natalie Hughes is getting at the truth underneath with her 5th record release, UnCover Me.

Audiences are drawn in by her rich, alto voice, a vibrato that slows to a soulful crawl, and her artful accompaniment on piano. Natalie’s performances, whether in a coffee house or a festival stage, at times will raise the hair on your arms and at others, have you feeling a deep melancholy or a blissful peace.

Natalie Hughes’ catalogue of music, with image-laden storytelling and the vulnerability of self-reflective journalling, spans 2 decades. The spiritual thread woven in and out started in an early traditional gospel upbringing that facilitated her self-taught practices in piano and voice. Blending in are songwriting influences of 70’s folk and country like James Taylor and Dolly Parton, female singer/songwriters of the 90s like Tori Amos and Jewel, and Canadian greats like Sarah Harmer and Alanis Morissette.

Her most recent work, UnCover Me, is actually a re-work of select songs chosen for their common themes combining vivid nature imagery and lived experience to pay tribute to the 20th anniversary of her sophomore release, One Girl.
